Gluten-free diet for weight loss?

The present trend among young Canadians is to follow a gluten/dairy free diet. Gluten-free diet is for people who have an allergy to gluten (Celiac disease) or those with gluten sensitivity. Gluten is a protein found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye, triticale and oats. These grains provide carbohydrates which are an important source of energy for our daily needs. They are also high in B vitamins and fiber.
Many of the commercial gluten-free products are high in fat and sugar. Therefore, if you are not allergic or sensitive to gluten, you should not eliminate these healthy grains from your diet.
